Grayson Flittner named Head Coach of OCC Blue Knights

OLNEY, Ill. — Olney Central College is proud to announce the hiring of Grayson Flittner as the new head coach of the Blue Knights men's basketball program.

A former standout player at Gardner-Webb University and a respected figure in the basketball community, Flittner brings a passion for the game, strong leadership, and a clear vision for the future of OCC basketball.

Flittner comes to OCC with a track record of success both on and off the court. Known for his high basketball IQ and leadership as a player, he has transitioned those qualities into coaching, where he's built a reputation for player development, up-tempo offensive systems, and connecting deeply with student-athletes.

“My vision for OCC is to create a program that plays with great pace, competes at the highest level, and represents this community with pride,” said Flittner. “We’re going to emphasize unselfish basketball, defending with effort, and getting out in transition to make the game fun for our players and fans.”

Flittner also spoke about his deep-rooted connection to the area and the impact the community has had on him.

“I’ve been in and out of this community for the past 14 years, and now I can finally call this place home,” he said. “The way people support OCC basketball is different — it’s real, it’s passionate, and it matters. I’m proud to be leading a program that means so much to so many, and I’m excited to help bring even more people into what we’re building here.”

He also plans to build strong ties with alumni and former Blue Knights, emphasizing their role in the program’s identity moving forward.

“Former players laid the foundation here, and I want them to feel a strong connection to what we’re building,” he added. “This is their program, too.”

Flittner is set to begin immediately as the Blue Knights prepare for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
